Engineers Made a DIY Face Shield. Now, Its Helping Doctors
Early last week, Lennon Rodgers, director of the Engineering Design Innovation Lab laboratory University of Wisconsin-Madison, got an urgent email from the university’s hospitalHealth center Jesse Darley, an engineer who worked on the face shield’s open source design, designs a prototype at his house. The design work truly came together, Darley says, after he called a medical facility employee he understood from the local pet dog park and she brought him a face guard that he could measure and take apart.
